Flavor & Winemaking: Mouth-watering luscious strawberry, raspberry & black cherry flavors lead to tannins reminiscent of pomegranates & black pepper (from the 40% whole cluster fermentation). 25% new French oak & 25% cherry wood in stainless steel for 18 months lends subtle almond & hazelnut notes.

  • Sensory Notes

Generous strawberry & black cherry with a pomegranate finish

  • Winemaker Notes

25% whole cluster, remainder whole berry, wild fermentation, pressed into 25% new French oak & 15% cherry wood for 8 months of aging on yeast lees.

  • Vineyard Notes

Narrow Gate Vineyards & Shake Ridge Vineyard, El Dorado County. Soil: Decomposed granite, volcanic high altitude rocky soils

  • Food Pairing

Smoked gouda or other smoked cheeses work well too, ideally creamy/fatty cheeses. Saltier crackers, olive bread or bread dipped in olive oil & salt. Olives & pickled veggies.  Dishes with tomato or tomatoe sauce (pasta, bbq/sauce, sun dried tomatoes on crackers, etc), blackberries with cheeses, hickory or applewood smoked bacon.

  • Music, Life & Literary Pairings

Life Pairing: A trip. It could be anywhere, or just a trip in your mind. But a trip that challenges you, pushes your boundaries, perhaps even breaks you. And afterwards, you heal, and recover, and tell stories. And in the telling and the healing you find you are stronger in the broken and healed places, proud of what you accomplished, renewed & powerful.

Music Pairing: “The Journey” by Sol Rising

Literary Pairing: “The word adventure has gotten overused. For me, when everything goes wrong – that’s when adventure starts.” – Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia
